Fortress Protective Services provides state-of-the-art access control systems and uniformed security officers throughout Southern Florida. Other services include concierge services, security consulting and site surveys. The company offers special expertise in protecting exclusive residential communities.

Joel and Leonard Leffler had worked in a family-run security firm since 1989. Disappointed in the industry-wide focus on price—not quality—the brothers founded Fortress Protective Services in 2001. The company pursued high-end clients, who demanded superior service. To deliver that service, Fortress offered its security officers better pay and benefits, including health insurance.

Fortress has also introduced an innovation to the screening process. All security officers need security experience AND customer-service or hospitality experience. The emphasis on customer service, combined with stronger wages and benefits, has yielded low employee turnover and high client retention.
